18 May, 2004 (BNN) -- Former Vice President Al Gore has used the new Fox film The Day After Tomorrow about a global warming catastrophe to blast President Bush. Gore used a telephone news conference Tuesday to criticize the Bush administration's stance on global warming, comparing the film to the president's policies, the New York Times reported Wednesday. There are two sets of fiction to deal with, Gore said. One is the movie, the other is the Bush administration's presentation of global warming. Gore used a telephone news conference Tuesday to criticize the Bush administration's stance on global warming, comparing the film to the president's policies, the New York Times reported Wednesday. There are two sets of fiction to deal with, Gore said. One is the movie, the other is the Bush administration's presentation of global warming. He said the White House is trying to convince people there's no real problem, no degree of certainty from scientists about the issue. The news conference was organized by www.moveon.org, an Internet-based liberal advocacy group. Dana Perino, spokeswoman for the Council on Environmental Quality, which coordinates environmental policy for the White House, said the administration's policies would reduce global warming threats without destroying jobs. While they're working on movies, she said, we are advancing our scientific knowledge, developing transformational energy technologies and reducing the greenhouse-gas intensity of the American economy. The Fox Studios' film, starring Dennis Quaid, tells the fictional story of a catastrophic climate change and the rapid arrival of a new ice age caused by global warming. The film opens May 28.
